Singapore Changi is the most decorated airport in the world — a 13-time winner of the Skytrax World's Best Airport title, most recently in 2025 — and the home base of Singapore Airlines. Opened in 1981 on reclaimed land at the island's eastern tip, it has grown into Southeast Asia's defining super-hub, handling 67.7 million passengers in 2024 across four terminals and the landmark Jewel complex.

Changi's network reads like a map of half the planet: the entire ASEAN region within about three hours, every major city in China, Japan, Korea and India within seven, the Gulf and Australia comfortably nonstop, and a string of European capitals. Its signature is the Singapore Airlines ultra-long-haul fleet — the roughly 19-hour nonstop to New York remains one of the longest scheduled flights ever operated.

The airport is also, famously, somewhere people visit on purpose. The Jewel's 40-metre Rain Vortex, the butterfly garden, the rooftop pool and the free city tours for long layovers have made 'arrive early, leave late' the standard Changi advice. With the colossal Terminal 5 now under construction for the mid-2030s, the world's favourite airport is only getting bigger.
