Find Your Antipode
The Antipode Map lets you instantly find the exact opposite point on Earth for any city, address, or coordinates.
Using precise geographic calculations, this interactive antipodes map shows where a straight line through the Earth’s center would emerge on the other side of the world — revealing oceans, countries, islands, and distances in real time.
Enter any place to explore its antipode, calculate great-circle distance, convert coordinates, and understand what exists directly beneath your location on the planet.
On this page you can:
- Find an antipode (the point directly opposite any location)
- Calculate distance between two places (great-circle distance)
- Convert coordinates (Decimal Degrees ↔ Degrees/Minutes/Seconds)
- See nearest land, airports, and islands to the antipode (useful when it’s in ocean)

The Antipode Map
An antipode is the point on Earth that lies directly opposite another location, connected by a straight line passing through the planet’s center.
If two points are antipodal, their latitudes are equal but opposite, and their longitudes differ by 180°. Most antipodes fall in the ocean, as land is unevenly distributed across the Earth’s surface.
Most locations end in ocean. Some reveal unexpected countries. A rare few land-to-land antipodes pair cities that share nothing yet sit in quiet geographic symmetry.
Use the map above to explore these contrasts. Enter any city or location and uncover what lies directly beneath your feet — on the true “other side” of the world.
How It Works
1. Type any city or place into the search bar
2. Hit “Find Antipode”
3. The map automatically reveals the exact opposite point
You can explore again and again — discovering relationships between places that feel unrelated but remain mathematically intertwined.
ANTIPODE FAQ

Why is this antipode map tool useful or interesting?
It offers global perspective — a better understanding of seasons, time zones, climate, geography, and how different cultures sit in relation to one another.
What exactly is an antipode?
It is the point directly opposite another on Earth — connected through the planet’s center. If you could drill straight down through your location, you would emerge at your antipode.
Why do most antipodes fall in the ocean?
Because Earth’s landmasses are clustered on one side of the planet. Over 90% of all antipodes place one point on land and the other in open ocean.
Do any major cities have true land-to-land antipodes?
A few rare pairs exist, including parts of New Zealand ↔ Spain, and parts of Argentina ↔ China. Most large cities do not have a land-based opposite.
Can I share my antipode?
Yes — use the map to find your opposite point, then screenshot or share the coordinates with friends. Yes — use Share Your Antipode to copy a link or generate an image card
